Newlyweds Matt (Elon Gold) and Alex (Bonnie Somerville) move in with her parents (Dennis Farina and Jean Smart) to save money so Matt can attend cooking school, but the challenges are great as Matt clashes with Victor Pellet (Dennis Farina), his overprotective, gruff father-in-law.

Kim Possible - Dr. Possible, 2002-2003 recurring
Disney animated action/adventure series following the comedic adventures of an average high school student with a brain surgeon mom and rocket scientist dad, who before long she is pressed into action to combat the world's evil masterminds. Jean is featured as the voice of Kim's brain surgeon mother.

The Oblongs - Pickles Oblong, 2001
The Oblongs are a poor misfit animated family that live in a valley downstream from a toxic waste site that causes a variety of bizarre physical and emotional abnormalities. Jean voices Pickles, whose marriage to limbless Bob cost her her society friends from the hills, her sobriety and her hair -- but she is exceedingly happy with her family, cigarettes, alcohol and wigs nonetheless.

The District - Sherry Regan, 2000-2004 recurring
This CBS drama revolves around Jack Mannion (Craig T. Nelson), a tenacious champion of the underdog and an avowed crime-fighter, whose latest challenge is Washington, D.C. Jean plays the recurring role of Mannion's ex-wife, Detective Sherry Regan, with whom he has shared an on-again, off-again romance for years. Her performance in 2001 earned her an Emmy Nomination.

Frasier - Lorna/Lana Anne Lynley Gardner, 2000-2001 recurring
Windbag Frasier Crane (Kesley Grammer) develops a sudden case of lockjaw when he bumps into a former high school classmate and campus queen (guest star Jean Smart), but after summoning the courage to step out on a date with his dream girl, he is horrified to witness her hairtrigger temper in all its fury. Jean earned two consecutive Emmy Awards for her appearances.

Style & Substance - Chelsea Stevens, 1998
Jean stars as Chelsea Stevens, a one-woman cooking, decorating and entertaining machine who thinks every crisis can be solved by a decorative centerpiece. Enter small-town girl Jane Sokol (Nancy McKeon), who goes head to head with neurotic control-freak Chelsea in her daily attempts to handle budgets and Chelsea's difficult staff.

High Society - Ellie Walker, 1995-1996
Tight writing, rapid-fire one-liners and actors playing against type together make this series wickedly funny and brittle. Jean appears as trashy romance novelist Ellie Walker, a socially elite, spoiled, self-centered, drugged-out, alcoholic nymphomaniac. Mary McDonnell portrays her ever-loyal best friend, socialite publicist Dott Emerson.

Series about a man who copes with his midlife crisis through daydream fantasies. His Funtime Ice Cream Company job gives him the most woe, especially his overbearing young boss and his luscious secretary (Jean Smart), about whom he fantasizes.

Teachers Only - Shari, 1983
Most of the action in this short-lived school comedy takes place in the faculty lunchroom and lounge where the faculty and staff of Millard Filmore High School (and later Woodrow Wilson High) talk about their successes and failures, both professional and personal. Jean played the principal's secretary, Shari, during the show's second incarnation in 1983.
