22. Whoa! So just what am I missing?
Depending on which package you're watching and how many minutes were taken
out of each episode, you could be missing as much as seven hours of footage.
That's the equivalent of 14 missing episodes.
This obviously presents a problem for those who wish to have the entire
series on tape: Do you tape episodes from which minutes of material have
been excised? Do you sacrifice the laugh track (thus calling into question
the "authenticity" of your collection) in order to have the complete action
for each episode? Do you tape multiple copies of episodes from different
sources, perhaps editing them together in an attempt to reconstruct the
"original" product? (All of this doesn't even take into account the
dilemma involving opening and closing sequences, credits, and trailers.)
Perhaps the best solution would be to write to some of the parties involved
(see question 1) and express your concerns.
