A Flintstone Christmas

60 minute television special, NBC (December 7, 1977)

Synopsis:

Laced with musical numbers in the tradition of Christmas specials of the era, this special is directed at children but has a family appeal -- though the plot is a little thin, and Santa and his wife definitely seem out of their time. Last seen as "groovy" teens, Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm have suddenly regressed to children.

The story begins with the Flintstones decorating their Christmas tree. Wilma and Betty try to get Fred to play Santa for the Women's Auxiliary Christmas party, but he refuses -- until Mr. Slate says that his wife wants him to do it (and Fred thinks his job is on the line). However, before Fred and Barney are able to get to the party, the real Santa trips and falls off Fred's neglected roof, twisting his ankle. Unable to walk, Santa convinces Fred and Barney to make his deliveries for him -- using a little Christmas magic.

After losing some of the presents in a storm, the boys are forced to go to the North Pole to pick up a new load from Santa's workshop --- making Fred late for his appearance at the Christmas party and angering Mr. Slate. When they finally do arrive, it takes a little Christmas magic to supply the children with gifts -- along with a special gift from Fred to Wilma.
