I Yabba-Dabba Do!

Synopsis:

This Valentine's movie -- the first of three specials designed to modernize the Flintstones -- brings us our favorite stone-age family with a 90's twist. Like today's world, the prehistoric Bedrock has seen a lot of progress. Huge high-rise apartments and shopping centers have sprung up -- in the traditional Bedrock stone-age style of course. Other signs of the times are prehistoric versions of TV dinners, microwaves, roller blades, computers, and even male stripper Rockindales. Everything is busier and the streets seem more congested -- plus the cavewomen now have careers outside of the home.

There are a few things missing from this special; for starters, Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm's friends are no where to be seen (they aren't even in attendance at the wedding!!). Also, major liberties are taken in references to Fred and Wilma's wedding -- suggesting that the couple was married in a Rock Vegas wedding chapel (we know from the original series that they were married by Judge Wedrock in a combination coffee shop/chapel near Rock Mountain Inn). Beyond these things, it's fun to see the characters again in another stage of life -- in the tradition of TV show reunions.

As the story begins, Fred loses the Flintstones' nest egg in a bet -- just as Wilma announces that she and Betty are opening a catering business. Pebbles --- now a gopher at an advertising agency -- is now madly in love with Bamm-Bamm, who is now a mechanic. When they surprise their families with plans to marry, Fred does everything he can to stop the wedding so Wilma doesn't find out that he has lost their nest egg (and also over the fear of losing his little Pebbly-Poo). Fred then loses all of Barney's savings in a scheme to get funds for the wedding -- starting a war between the families and prompting the kids to run off to Rock Vegas to elope.

Determined to make Wilma and Pebbles happy and make up for his mistakes, Fred drags Barney to Rock Vegas in search of the kids. After inadvertently getting chased by a group of Wedding Wacker thugs, the kids and their fathers barely make it back to Bedrock in time for the wedding (which incidentally gets funded by Rock Vegas casino winnings!!).
